Marnie Woodrow shows you how
to improve your chances of getting a literary arts grant with
this info-packed night led by an experienced arts grant juror
and grant recipient. Learn about the dos and NEVER DOs for preparing
a great grant package, from daunting forms to writing a sharp
synopsis to the all-important writing sample. Manuscript formatting
101 and rejection psychology will also be covered. Find out what
really goes on during the jury process and prepare for more success!

of two short story collections, Why We Close Our Eyes When
We Kiss; In The Spice House, and a novel, Spelling
Mississippi. In addition to writing fiction, journalism and
scripts, she works as a television and radio researcher and as
an online editor/writing coach. She is a recipient of the Excellence
In Teaching Award from University of Toronto School of Continuing
Studies. A wide range of her popular workshops have been offered
at venues including Algonquin College, Ottawa International Writers
Festival, This Aint The Rosedale Public Library, Toronto
Public Library and at numerous high schools in the GTA. She's
also a closet poet who divides her time between Toronto and Prince
Edward County. |

Professional playwright and
teacher, Bill Ballantyne leads a course designed both for beginners
and for those who are writing a play. Helping you grow familiar
with those elements that make a play tick: character, situation,
development, suspense and, most important, conflict. Learn what
makes a play come alive and what tends to stall it, to drain
it of life. Learn a wonderful art.
Bill Ballantyne attended
the Yale Drama School, where he studied acting with such legends
as Stella Adler, Bobby Lewis and Mildred Dunnock. In 1981, Bills
first full length play, The Al Cornell Story, was produced twice
by Theatre Passe Muraille. His second play, Bat Mastersons
Last Regular Job, was produced simultaneously in New York and
in Toronto. A third production was arranged by Joseph Papp. Since
then, he has written 15 more plays. |
